At the Rivière-des-Prairies Volunteer Action Centre, we believe that small, caring gestures can transform lives. Thanks to the commitment of our volunteers, we offer a variety of essential services that support vulnerable people, break isolation, and strengthen the social fabric of our community.
Whether it's a helping hand with filing a tax return, grocery shopping, a friendly call, or getting to a medical appointment, our services are designed to support people with dignity, respect, and kindness.

Tax Clinic
Since 1996, our free tax clinic has been supporting low-income individuals with their tax preparation. Offered year-round, this service is passionately supported by our volunteers, who are particularly active during the months of March and April to assist residents with their tax filing procedures.

Small grocery stores
Established in 2002 to meet the needs of seniors, this service allows our volunteers to take orders over the phone and do their shopping for them. In addition to promoting independence at home, it creates meaningful human connections and encourages healthy eating in an atmosphere of trust and kindness.

Friendship calls
Friendly Calls are more than just conversations: they're moments of comfort and human connection. Offered by our caring volunteers, this telephone service is designed for seniors experiencing loneliness or isolation.
Up to five times a week, volunteers take the time to talk with the beneficiaries, to listen, to laugh, or simply to break the silence of everyday life.

Accompaniment and transport
The support service allows a volunteer to support a person in the
need by accompanying him to his medical appointments.
This service is not free: the
beneficiary must pay a modest contribution to cover the cost of gasoline and
use of the volunteer's vehicle.
